Orange Tour & Special Needs Ministry Breakouts
After two great years working with the special needs ministry track at the Orange Conference, we’ve decided to bring a piece of the track to several tour stops. I’ll be leading two breakouts (described below) at the following tour stops:
|Tampa, FL||September 13th|
|Indianapolis, IN||October 16th|
|San Jose, CA||November 13th|
|Los Angeles, CA||November 15th|
|Houston, TX||January 22nd|
|Dallas, TX||January 24th|
Leading an Inclusion Initiative
Establishing and communicating a vision for special needs inclusion is an important (and sometimes overlooked) step in building a successful special need ministry. We’ll address common issues churches wrestle through as they determine their calling and capability for accommodating children with learning differences and disabilities. Several models for special needs inclusion will be presented while offering best practices to ensure success for ministry participants, families, and volunteers. We’ll also have a Q&A time at the end of this breakout.
Surviving to Thriving: Techniques to Engage Different Learners
This popular breakout is coming on tour! In this fast-paced hour we’ll equip volunteers and leaders to keep the most challenging child engaged. You’ll learn easy and effective communication techniques, behavior management strategies, and activity adaptations that can make small group environments (Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights and VBS) meaningful experiences for everyone involved. The 35+ ideas offered in this breakout can work for full-inclusion or inside special needs designated settings.
Some Orange Tour locations have limited seating so you may not want to wait until the last minute to register (at least one location sold out last year). If you register prior to two weeks before the event, tickets are $64 per person. Registration within two weeks of the event is $74. If you have any questions about the special needs workshops, email me at email@example.com. I look forward to meeting many of you in person! Oh and YES the 2013 Orange Conference will have another strong special needs ministry track with no less than 8 workshops and a Q&A event.
